WSPBuilder Extensions 1.0.6

Tags:

For fans of WSPBuilder they just released a new version 1.06 released July 29 2009 that resolves the following:

  • A Reference folder under GAC and 80/Bin is now supported for large dlls that do not need reflection on SafeControls and Permissions.
  • New menu function "Recycle the Windows SharePoint Services Timer" implemented on WSPBuilder Extensions.
  • Refactoring of "Copy to GAC" in order to improve the functionality.
  • Bug fixed! "Unable to get solution id from manifest: Unable to extract manifest.xml ..." error for x64 systems
  • CabLib.dll updated to new version.
  • Its now possible to include the Cablib.dll into the WSP package.

Along with the fixes from version 1.05 released June 22 2009  that resolved the following:

  • correct CABLIB.DLL for x64 systems. (No need for manually installing)
  • "Copy to 12 hive" function now works on x64 systems.
  • Support for IIS7
  • Minor bug fix for "Recycle App Pools"
  • Supports VisualBasic Project/Item templates. (Thanks to Chip Sockwell)
  • wspbuilder.exe is included in this package.

WSPBuilder.exe version 0.9.8.0830 x86 (Console app) - Only exe file and libraries.

  • Cablib.dll for x64 system. Just replace this file and WSPBuilder will work on a x64 system, however WSPBuilder Extensions will install the correct version.
  • Local config files are now supported with wspbuilder. Just put the wspbuilder.exe.config file into your local project and modify it to your needs. WSPBuilder will first look for the general config file, then the local project and last the command line arguments.
  • Install notes.
Be sure to uninstall the old version of WSPBuilder Extensions before installing the new version.

Of all the issues resolved I ran into the most above when using the product was inconsistencies with the manifest.xml when developing in an x64 environment. I just installed this version and will let everyone know if its improvement. But at the same time I was so used to doing manually creating the ddf and xml files, I almost feel like I have given up control, dumb huh, lol…
