Some of the folks new to SharePoint Administration sometimes have a difficult time understanding the differences between SharePoint server farms with Multiple WFEs and App Servers and how to apply Hotfixes, Updates & Service Packs and the pre-requisites necessary. This is kinda a post for Admins or folks who are new to SharePoint. Because those of you who went through the Beta2, Beta2TR, RC, and SP1 release cycles or had previous experience with SPS2003 are probably familiar with this information

This presentation, given by an escalation engineer at the Microsoft Office SharePoint Server conference in March 2008, provides valuable information about the different types of software updates that Microsoft releases for Windows SharePoint Services and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server. Using Service Pack 1 for Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 and Office SharePoint Server 2007 as an example, Daniel Winter provides detailed information about pre-upgrade steps, deploying the upgrade, validating the upgrade, and troubleshooting the upgrade. This video is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes long. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=387CDEF6-A807-4CF8-AE2C-16F0AFCCAF3C&displaylang=en
